At Vista Outdoor, we understand the important role that businesses play in making the community – and the world – a better place. We strive to be a good corporate citizen through a culture of safety, environmental stewardship and conservation, community service, and a commitment to our employees.

SAFETY – We begin with safety, our company’s most important value. Vista Outdoor is world class in its safety performance, and that level of achievement comes from the diligence of every employee. As an outdoor sports and recreation company, we offer consumers a variety of product offerings, including firearms, ammunition, and safety equipment. We take seriously our responsibility to help our customers safely use these products.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP – Our company is focused on environmental stewardship and conservation. We operate our businesses in an environmentally responsible and compliant manner, recycling and reusing materials and limiting and appropriately managing waste in our factories.

CONSERVATION – Vista Outdoor is committed to protecting our natural resources and promoting the responsible use of those resources by outdoor enthusiasts. We partner with conservation organizations across the country to support this mission.

COMMUNITY – Our company is proud to give back to the communities where we live and work. We do this by helping the less fortunate, supporting military members and their families and promoting the benefits of outdoor recreation.

EMPLOYEES – People are our greatest asset. With more than 7,000 skilled employees in 13 states and in countries around the world, we understand that education, development and diversity of background and thought are integral to our success.

Message from the CEO

MarkDeYoungThank you for visiting our corporate social responsibility page. I’m proud of our efforts to promote a culture of safety, giving back, environmental stewardship, and diversity. I hope you’ll spend some time learning more about our company, but I’d like to highlight a few areas from our company’s fiscal year 2016 (FY16)

Vista Outdoor once again finished our fiscal year with world-class safety performance, a testament to the culture we’ve created about “safety first.” We also remain committed to helping our consumers safely use our products. We partner with association such as Project ChildSafe, which provides gun locks to safely secure firearms, the International Hunters Education Association (IHEA), which teaches hunter safety, and Safe Kids Worldwide, which works to prevent injuries in children.

In FY16, we filed a Conflict Minerals Report, which describes the measures we have taken to exercise due diligence on the source and chain of custody of the conflict minerals contained in our products manufactured during the 2015 calendar year.

Also this year, we created a conservation compass and introduced our “Conservation Counts” campaign to group and align the conservation efforts of our 50 brands. In FY16, we provided nearly $84 million to fund wildlife conservation in the United States through the Pittman-Robertson excise tax.

In FY16, Vista Outdoor employees committed more than $200,000 to the United Way, and we raised nearly $260,000 for the Folds of Honor Foundation, which supports the spouses and children of disabled or fallen soldiers.

Earlier this year, we created a Diversity & Inclusion council to spearhead our D&I programs. We’ve also launched an employee purchase program to get our outdoor equipment in the hands of our employees, and we’ve asked employees to send in photos of themselves and their families enjoying the outdoors in an effort to encourage a healthy lifestyle and promote our mission of “Bringing the World Outside.”

You’ll find more stories of our commitment to social responsibility on the accompanying pages. I hope you will put our products to use in your outdoor activities and adventures. I appreciate your interest in Vista Outdoor.

Sincerely,

Mark W. DeYoung
