In August, volunteers from the FBI Minneapolis Citizens Academy Alumni Association (FBIMCAAA) gathered at Federal’s Clubhouse Conference Center in Anoka, Minnesota to fill 100 Hope Bags for victims of sex trafficking in Minnesota and the Dakotas.
CamelBak donated 100 Pivot Tote Bags and Chute water bottles through their “Give Bak” program. The mission of “Give Bak” is to be a force for positive change, which aligns perfectly with the mission of the FBIMCAAA to provide the community with resources, training and information that will benefit citizens in the community.
The volunteers sorted, donated and purchased items that included blankets, journals/diaries, adult coloring books, colored pencils, leggings, socks, t-shirts, underwear, sports bras, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hairbrushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, deodorant, lotion, hairbands, feminine hygiene products, lip balm and snacks. The items were then staged in an assembly line to pack up the Hope Bags.
Hope Bags were then loaded into volunteer vehicles for transportation to storage locations. From there, local FBI and other law enforcement agencies will distribute to social service agencies that give the bags to recipients.
Packing these bags provided an evening filled with good conversation, hard work and the satisfaction of helping victims of sex trafficking.
