Veterans Get Free Entry to All National Parks and Public Lands

A Better Together story on Vista and our brands support for the Veterans in Parks (VIP) Act.

By a vote of 420-0, the United States House of Representatives passed The Veterans in Parks (VIP) Act. The VIP Act is a bipartisan bill led by U.S. Reps. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa) and Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.), which recognizes our active-duty service members, veterans, and Gold Star families should be treated like VIPs in America’s national parks and on our public lands. The VIP Act will allow veterans, along with Gold Star Family members, to visit our national parks and public lands free of charge.

The VIP Act will:

  • Provide free annual America the Beautiful Passes to current military service members.
  • Provide free lifetime America the Beautiful Passes to veterans and members of Gold Star Families so they can freely enter all our national parks and public lands.

What they’re saying about the VIP Act
“Vista Outdoor and our family of brands are proud to support the bipartisan Veterans in Parks Act. Public lands are a vast, untapped resource for healing, comradery and adventure. Inviting more veterans and their families to experience these many benefits is not only a good policy, but it’s the right thing to do. Our veterans and their families have served with honor, putting their lives on hold while willingly entering harm’s way. Providing access to our public lands is an important tool in the transition to civilian life while also showing our collective thanks and appreciation for their service. Representative Miller-Meeks and Representative Gallego should be commended for their dedication to our public lands, veterans and bipartisanship.” –  Kelly Reisdorf, Vista Outdoor Chief Communications Officer and General Manager, Venor

Vista Outdoor and its brands are active supports of the legislation, joining dozens of other organizations in advocating for its passage. Vista Outdoor brands were a driving force of external support. Congrats on this better-together story helping to make a difference in our communities and public lands!
