Second Career in Robotics

Here is a futuristic twist on “Reduce. Reuse. Recycle” from Federal’s facility in Anoka, Minnesota.

A routine 5S exercise turned into an opportunity to donate vices rather than throwing them away. The idea was inspired by Federal’s long-standing six-year relationship with the Becker High School Robotics Team. Roger Schmidt, machine shop associate, watched his son, Evan participate in Becker Robotics competitions during Evan’s high school years. This turned into Federal becoming a sponsor of the team, supporting the greater Anoka county community. Evan, now a Federal machine shop apprentice, recently received a family scholarship.

Not familiar with Lean Manufacturing?
5S is a methodology used for organizing spaces so work can be performed efficiently, effectively and safely. As such, part of a 5S exercise is removing items from the work area that are no longer needed.
