CCI Speer is proud of their Academic All Stars scholarship tradition. This year’s award ‘ceremony’ was a bit different, given COVID-19 and social distancing requirements. Bill Mackleit, Senior Direct of Operations used technology to show student scholarship recipient, Carson Forsman, his giant check for $1,000. Local TV station KLEW covered the Zoom meeting. Excerpts from the story:
Each week during the school year CCI/Speer recognizes a local high school student for achievements in and out of the classroom. At the end of the year one student is chosen to receive $1000 scholarship. This year CCI Speer named Prairie High School Graduate Carson Forsman the Academic All-Star of the year.
“It feels awesome to be named academic all-star you know. It’s just awesome,” Forsman said.
Forsman went above in beyond during his time in high school. He spent his free time volunteering at his local church, creating art projects for charity fundraisers, and providing firewood for the elderly.
Along with the title of Academic All-Star of the year, CCI Speer awarded Forsman $1,000 to further his education. This was presented Forsman on a giant check.
“Performance is there with his G.P.A., championships in football. He obviously states hard work, and it takes a lot of hard word to do all the things he accomplished,” Bill Mackleit, CCI Speer Senior Operations Director, said.
Forsman plans to attend North Idaho College to attend vocational school and one day become a shop teacher.
He said the $1,000 giant check will help pay for tools so he can start off ready.
