Perhaps one of the last things pedestrians consider when using e-bike or scooter micromobility program is safety. Usually, when they take a trip on a shared-mobility device, the focus is on fun, or getting somewhere efficiently. What some may not realize is accidents and injuries have increased monumentally, right alongside the popularity of the micromobility programs.
To help keep people safe, Bell teamed with HOPR to release the lightweight and portable METRO™ helmet for these programs to address growing safety concerns head on.
Designed in partnership with Vancouver Bike Share Inc, a subsidiary of HOPR, the new helmet is manufactured in Canada and assembled in the U.S. by Bell Sports. The companies worked to provide this key piece of safety equipment to reduce the risk of injury when using e-bikes and scooters.
The METRO™ helmet is made of EPP material, which will weather outdoor storage conditions better than traditional bicycle helmets. Key features of helmet include a lock port to store securely with a cable lock, durable weather-resistant EPP material, adjustable straps and channeled ventilation to keep heads cool.
Congrats to the Bell team in the partnership and innovation to reduce the risk on a growing problem!
