On August 23, BLACKHAWK employees volunteered for a Service Day at the Trooper David DeLaittre Memorial Park. Trooper David DeLaittre was shot and killed on December 1, 2010, in the line of duty.
Activities completed were mowing, canal cleanup, weed pulling and wash and wax the trooper memorial car. The volunteers also painted an outhouse with the “thin blue line” theme. The “thin blue line” is a symbol used by law enforcement officers, and their supporters to commemorate a fallen officer and to show support for living law enforcement officers. It also symbolizes the relationship between the officers and the community they have sworn to protect.
Those volunteering their time to assist in beautifying this memorial were: Lamont Kotter, Birten Todd, Kristie Flack, Brian Flack, Emmanuel Berg, Alex Melka, Helen Morris, Phil Cleveland, Michele Rolling, Mark Herndon, Darrin Stevens, Jen Wilke and Tim Friese.
