June is Great Outdoors Month! It started as a week-long event by the Clinton Administration and has grown, with support from the Bush and Obama Administrations, to a month-long celebration of the benefits of participating in the great outdoors. Last year, all 50 governors participated in celebrating Great Outdoors Month, hosting events to introduce children and families to the various ways they can get outside.
The first Saturday of June (June 3) is National Trails Day. It is a coordinated effort to attract new trail users and connect existing trail users with the hopes of creating new advocates and stewards of existing public lands and trails.
To help celebrate Great Outdoors Month, and National Trails Day, we invite you to slip on your trail runners, saddle up your horse, buckle your bike helmet or lace up your hiking boots! Find local trails in your area.
