The Twin County United Way Day of Caring took place on May 8, 2015 in Lewiston, Idaho. During the annual Day of Caring, teams of volunteers participate in meaningful, hands-on community projects for local nonprofit organizations. Together, volunteers raise awareness for local nonprofit programs and promote the spirit of caring throughout the year.
Vista Outdoor had 15 employees who volunteered to participate in the Day of Caring event. A group of nine went to Community Action Partnership and helped spruce up their waiting area by painting and creating décor for the walls. They also helped organize and clean storage areas and the childcare loan closet. The other seven volunteers went to Whitman Elementary and assisted with cleaning up playgrounds and reading to a class of sixth graders. The group had the opportunity to spend time with the children during their recess, playing games like tag and hide-and-seek. Teachers expressed the importance of showing the children that adults do care and want to invest time in them.
Everyone left with a smile on their face, excited about giving back to the community.
